Eddie Smyth

Head of Sales

Tell us a bit more about your role at DisplayNote

I’ve spent my career in sales, working both as an individual contributor and as a manager. I find my happy place to be somewhere in the middle as the player/coach because I can’t help but get hands on and engage with customers as well as my team. I enjoy building and leading commercial teams, with a focus on creating scalable, repeatable sales processes. I love working in fast-paced environments where there’s a real opportunity to make an impact, especially when that means solving meaningful problems for customers. Before joining DisplayNote, I contributed to go-to-market efforts across both early-stage startups and more established companies in the world of Martech, this gave me a solid foundation in both strategy and execution.

What excites you most about joining DisplayNote?

The potential. The products are great, the vision and goals are clear and ambitious, and there’s a real opportunity to drive growth in both existing and new markets. I’m particularly excited about what we’re doing with Launcher, it solves a real problem for a broad range of users and admins. There’s so much untapped potential across a variety of industries. I’m really excited about the opportunity to build something meaningful, to shape and scale the sales function from the ground up, putting the right structure, processes, and people in place to drive consistent, sustainable growth.

What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months in your role at DisplayNote?

Five main things:

  1. Build a high-performing, focused sales engine that delivers consistent results and drives growth.
  2. Shorten sales cycles, making the process as simple as possible for our customers whether they are OEM, Partner or End User.
  3. Expand across multiple industries, our technology has so many use cases literally any type of business could benefit from it.
  4. Expanding our channel presence, we work with so many amazing partners across the globe. I want to grow that network and enable more resellers to be successful with us.
  5. Strengthening our OEM partnerships and building new ones.

If we do these things right, revenue growth will follow.

Sales can be fast-paced and challenging – what keeps you motivated?

Progress. Whether it’s improving a process, closing a deal, or seeing someone on the team hit a milestone, I get energy from moving things forward. I also love the mix of strategy and hustle that sales demands, no two days are ever the same, and there’s always something to learn or improve. We have already made so much progress in the short time that I have been here I’m excited for the road ahead!

What’s one piece of advice you always give to salespeople?

Control what you can control, your activity, your mindset, your follow-up. The results will come, but consistency is what separates the best from the rest. Also, listen more than you talk, you have two ears and one mouth for a reason.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

Spending time with my family is a big priority a 7 year old little girl and a dog coming 2 keeps life fun and full of energy. I’m also a fan of golf and darts and football although I only play 2 out of the 3 now, my ankles have finally given up on me when it comes to football. I enjoy travelling whenever I get the chance. I’ve got a real appreciation for good food, whether that means trying new places or getting stuck into cooking at home.

Anything else to add?

I’m genuinely excited to be here. There’s a strong foundation in place, and I’m looking forward to helping take things to the next level. If you want to talk go-to-market, sales process, or favourite golf courses, I’m always up for a chat.
