DisplayNote Improves Classroom Flexibility with Interactive AirPlay Touchback Capability
New functionality enables educators to control iPad content from the main room display, supporting more flexible and collaborative teaching models
DisplayNote Technologies has announced a significant enhancement to its screen sharing platform with the introduction of AirPlay Touchback support, designed to expand how AirPlay is used in modern teaching environments.
The update enables teachers to content from their iPad via AirPlay while interacting with that content directly from the main classroom display. The result is a more responsive connection between personal device and shared screen removing the need for educators to remain physically tied to their iPad during lessons.
While AirPlay has traditionally been used for one-way screen mirroring, DisplayNote’s enhancement introduces a more interactive layer, allowing classroom displays to act as an extension of the teacher’s device.
For display vendors, this represents a meaningful evolution in how classroom technology can support teaching and learning. As pedagogy continues to shift toward more collaborative, student-centred approaches, the role of the teacher is becoming increasingly mobile and facilitative rather than fixed at the front of the room.
By enabling control of iPad content from the interactive display, the enhanced AirPlay experience allows teachers to keep their device connected and charging throughout the day, while still maintaining full access via the display. This reduces friction in lesson delivery and supports a more fluid teaching style.
Educators are able to move freely throughout the classroom, engaging directly with students while maintaining control of lesson content supporting a model based on collaboration, participation, and shared learning rather than one-way instruction.
